NICE INFO
TRAM The apartment stop is Alsace Lorraine you need to take Line 2 it takes roughly 20 minutes from the Airport to Tram Stop Alsace Lorraine. Then a 5/10 minute walk to the apartment. The address is in Rue Amiral de Grasse (full address given when booked).
SUPERMARKET- Inter Marche on Rue Rossini - (out of flat, turn left) well stocked. Rolfo BOULANGERIE at the end of our street, best croissants (Rossini Restaurant opposite huge portions and great value). Currently closed over winter
BEST BEACHES are Nice, and Villefranche- second stop after Nice on way to Monaco/Vintimille (main rail station) take cool box (in grey cupboard) and beach towels (in bedoom bottom drawer).
MAIN RAILWAY STATION is 10 min walk from the flat, SNCF app worth downloading, Monaco is approximately 20 minutes by train and Cannes about 40 minutes Cannes has Sandy beaches but too much to see and do there, such as Small tourist train is good (Starts from tourist office which is near famous red carpet stairs) ,Vieux Cannes is lovely. Timetables are scarce so get the SNCF app. You can buy tickets online which may be easier!
BOAT CRUISES - Trans Côte d’Azur leaflets are in top drawer in hall chest, they offer a coastal trip of 1 hour duration which is well worth it. Reserve tickets online but you still need to go to booth to collect tickets before boarding. San Tropez trip an excellent one, with San Trop market on Tuesdays and Saturdays mornings, Places des Lices.
Take a boat ride to visit the Lerin or St Marguerites islands, where man in Iron mask was imprisoned St Honorat has a monastery and beautiful nature reserves. CARLTON HOTEL - also worth a visit for a cocktail or two!
ITALY -San Remo markets also on Tuesdays and Saturdays 8am -1pm according to Google. Saint Paul de Vence beautiful place to visit - think there’s a bus to get there. Rothschild villa also stunning, well worth a visit.
EZE Village beautiful to see, garden at the top which there is a small fee for. Getting there not the easiest, go by train and walk up if feeling fit ( NOT for the faint hearted! get bus back ? In top drawer of hall chest are lots of leaflets and suggestions. Also red folder with tons of details in there. You may even see Bono from U2 as he has lives in EZE.
PIZZA Don’t forget pizzas from yellow pizza van are remarkable value and delicious. Le Clocher is where we go to in Vieux Nice, cheap and cheerful. Can’t beat Pizzas at The Pietonne (pedestrian area). Other food available here but the pizzas are the best choice - in my opinion!
COCKTAILS RESTAUARANT Negresco hotel a must for cocktails with two bars Versailles and Relais. Wonderful restaurant is Le Plongeoir, gets booked up very quickly. They also have a walk in bar at the bottom of restaurant. La Merenda also a famous tiny restaurant- with lots of typical South of France specialities- but can only book by either FB or Instagram .
